Threads of silence is a short video which focuses on the moment of awkward silence between people. The absence of words in such a situation may transform the calm of silence into an overwhelming tension, provoking the body’s unconscious exposure: hands get confused, eyes wander, breathing rhythms accelerate.
The tense silence accompanying deep emotion aches to be broken by appropriate speech. Lord Byron says we grow breathless “when feeling most”.
As the tension rises, the notion of time hangs or seems to be suspended, as suggested by the video's time deceleration, by repetitive monotone images of two pairs of hands twisted in transparent threads, as well as by the sound of electricity/vibration.
