Your Inverted Presence is an immersive light and sound interactive installation which takes you for a short, intimate journey into a slowly twisting reality. The viewer is invited to enter alone a dark space, where a short scenario gradually infolds.
Inspired by the main character of Robert Silverberg’s short story To see the Invisible Man and his controversial social appearance and interaction, I wanted to immerse the viewer into a similarly disturbing environment to carry the book's metaphor one step further – from being involuntarily invisible to the others, to suffering invisibility to oneself, so as to confront the viewer with the strange experience of his disappearing reflection and feeling of being cast away, ostracized.
To achieve this purpose, I set out to use dramatic change in light and sound to enhance the sensation. As the writer Alan Cohen put it : “Everyone and everything that shows up in our life is a reflection of something that is happening inside of us.”
